History of Art 2

History of Art 2 does what its name promises: it goes back to the source material. A chinoiserie tree trails birds and butterflies across seven colourways, from cream to indigo to near-black. Engraved tropical botanicals read like a plate from a Victorian folio. A classical damask carries its scrollwork in raised relief, and a dupioni silk catches the light in horizontal slubs. Behind all of it sit thirty-two plains — linen-textured and plaster-textured — matched to the colours the prints borrow, so the papered wall and the three around it come from one book.

The drawing is historical; the making is not. Every roll is printed in Germany by AS Création, one of Europe's largest wallcovering manufacturers, on non-woven backing with a scrubbable surface and good light fastness. Non-woven holds its dimensions in humidity and strips off dry in whole lengths — which is what makes a period look practical in a Bangkok condo rather than a maintenance problem.

Rolls are 10.05 metres by 53 centimetres. Most of the prints have a straight or offset match; the plains are free match, so there is no pattern to align and less waste on an awkward wall.

Every design below opens with the flat artwork alongside photographs of it hung in real rooms, so you can judge scale and sheen before you commit — the damasks and silks in particular change character with the light. We handle measurement and installation, in English and Thai.
