Nature-inspired murals for children
Kikki Belle
The studio's children's range, added in 2021 once its founders noticed how little calm, friendly wallpaper was being made for children. Kikki Belle is a character who dreams — of hot-air balloons and dinosaurs, of planets, winter forests and the floor of the ocean — and these murals are the worlds she dreams into.
Kikki Belle followed the studio's first range, which had been drawn for adults. Several of its earliest designs became long-running bestsellers, and it has since grown into much the largest of the four. The scenes are detailed without being loud. Antique botanical drawing is combined with work from the studio's own illustrators, so a child can look at the same wall for years and keep finding things in it. Most designs come in several colourways, and that is usually what decides whether one belongs in a bright playroom or in a room that has to settle down at bedtime.
